Heated smooth stones are placed on certian points on the body to melt and loosen those tight muscles and balance energy centers in the body. The massage therapist may also hold stones and apply gentle pressure with them. The warmth is comforting. The hot stones are basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. It is wonderful for guests with muscle tension but prefer lighter massage.
